How to Lose Water Weight – 5 Tips

Retaining excess water can make you feel bloated. It can also make your wrists, ankles, hands and feet swell and your face look puffy. Sure, you have probably learned that the best way to lose water weight is actually to drink more water. This is absolutely true. In fact, water weight is usually a sign that your body is “scared” to lose any more water and as a countermeasure is retaining it like a camel. The thing is, you are not a camel!
Here are 5 tips for fine-tuning your water weight loss plan:
Tip #1: Get a 32 oz. or 64 oz. refillable container: You can find these little babies for very cheap at almost any discount or sporting goods store and they come in all kinds of cool designs. Buy them not for their cool designs, however, but rather for their amazing capacity: you can really put a lot of water into these things. And, unlike a conventional cup, their portable design encourages you to carry them wherever you go. If you drink just 1 – 2 of these mega-containers’ worth of water each day, your body will start shedding the excess water that it has been holding onto for dear life for so long.
Tip #2: Add a little lemon or lime: To your mega-container, add a squeeze or two of lemon or lime. These citrus fruits act as natural diuretics, and their refreshing taste makes the water go down that much easier.
Tip #3: Eat lower sodium foods: Sodium and water weight go hand-in-hand. When you drink more water, your body is freed to release some of its sodium stores. Conversely, when you switch to a lower sodium diet, your body will tend to store less excess water. Bonus tip: cutting down on diet sodas will cut your sodium intake significantly.
Tip #4: Try a natural diuretic: Diuretics help your body flush water weight. But prescription diuretics can be rather harsh on your system and often cause intense diarrhea. Try a natural diuretic such as an herbal-based one for a gentler, healthier experience of forcing that excess water out of your body.
Tip #5: Sprinkle in some exercise: Yes, that weight loss panacea, exercise, comes in handy for helping you to lose water weight, too. Bonus tip: choose exercises that work the areas of your body (e.g., wrists or ankles) that need the most help in losing water.
Drinking more water is the cornerstone to a water weight loss strategy. Adding a bit of citrus to your water, taking natural diuretics, eating a low sodium diet, and doing concentrated exercises can also help you shed that weight. Losing water weight is the first step to looking sexy and feeling great with a comprehensive weight loss plan.
How To Clean A Coffee Maker
Ever wonder how to clean a coffee maker the right way? Drip coffee makers need to be cleaned at least once a month to keep your coffee tasting good.
Cleaning your coffee maker takes away hard water mineral deposits, old oils from previously brewed pots and other impurities that can make your coffee taste bad.
A mixture of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water is the best way to clean a drip coffee maker. Mix a full pot of the vinegar and water mixture, pour it in your water reservoir and turn the coffee maker on.
Once the mixture has run completely through, it’s important to turn the drip coffee maker off and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
Pour the vinegar and water mixture down the drain. If you are cleaning a coffee maker that hasn’t been cleaned regularly, repeat this step again with a fresh vinegar and water mixture.
Next, rinse the pot out thoroughly with warm, plain water. Then, fill the water reservoir again with clean water and turn the coffee maker on to start the rinsing process.
To make sure all of the vinegar and water solution is completely gone repeat the rinsing process one more time after letting the pot cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
This is how to clean a coffee maker the right way. Cleaning your drip coffee maker on a monthly basis will make it last longer and keep your coffee tasting the best it can possibly be.

Is This Why Your Vagina Smells?
Wanda The Fish. That was the most humiliating name any chick could get labeled at my middle school. Getting chastised as “Wanda” simply meant that your vagina reeked of “Tuna Of The Sea”.
Understandably, girls, myself included, would go to extensive lengths to avoid this dehumanizing stigma.
So what do you do when your stinky midsection betrays an otherwise healthy vagina? The first step is to actually make sure that your vagina is in tip-top shape.
What’s a Vagina Supposed to Smell Like?
Throughout your menstrual cycle, it’s normal to have a variety of vaginal discharges. Vaginal discharge can take the form of the non-fertile, viscous- and sticky-type discharge to the very fertile, slippery- and clear-type discharge that occurs close to menstruation.
Abnormal discharges are accompanied by itchiness, raunchy smells, and/ or gray-, yellow- or green-colored discharges.
The second step to restoring your vagina to health involves to ruling out the possibility of having vaginal conditions like bacterial vaginosis, a yeast infection or trichomonas vaginitis.
Bacterial vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis (BV), while more common than yeast infections, doesn’t get much attention in the media.
The cause of bacterial vaginosis remains unclear but this condition is linked to sexual activity and douching. According to a University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) study, a sexually transmitted virus that infects vaginal lactobacilli may cause bacterial vaginosis.
Vaginal lactobacilli are required to maintain a healthy pH and bacterial balance within the vagina. Once this balance is disrupted by a virus, the vagina no longer has a protective barrier and is more susceptible to infection.
In the 1999 UIC study, Sylvia Pavlova, senior research specialist, and Lin Tao, associate professor of oral biology, found that viruses may cause bacterial vaginosis. Moreover bacterial vaginosis could be sexually transmitted.
If untreated, bacterial vaginosis can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, tubal pregnancy, or, pre-term labor if you are pregnant.
Only your doctor can diagnose bacterial vaginosis. Your doctor would prescribe oral antibiotics or antibiotic vaginal inserts to treat bacterial vaginosis.
What to look and smell for:
Increased vaginal discharge. A fishy vaginal odor and white or gray milk-like discharge.
Yeast infection
If you’ve used antibiotics, been pregnant, have diabetes, or wear tight clothing, chances are you’ve experienced an overgrowth of vaginal yeast. Overgrowth of the yeast Candida albicans is largely blamed for causing yeast infections.
Most women find their yeast infection treatment in over-the-counter preparations at drug stores. Other times you can find yeast infection relief by moderating your sugar intake and supplementing your diet with more foods that contain Lactobacillus (L.).
Dr. Tori Hudson, who serves a medical director of A Woman’s Time, recommends that you eat foods that contain at least three of the following forms of Lactobacillus when naturally treating a yeast infection: L. acidophilus, L. fermentum. L. plantarum, L bulgaricus, L. casei, or L. rhamnosus.
While a research war still ranges over the effectiveness of Lactobacillus against combating yeast infections, women still notice improvements with their vaginal infections after supplementing their diet with this probiotic.
What to look and smell for:
Symptoms include a white cottage cheese-like discharge, itching, redness, and irritation.
Trichomonas vaginitis
Trichomonas vaginitis comes in as the third leading cause of vaginal infections.
Commonly called “hooker”, I mean “trick”, trichomonas vaginitis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a tiny single-celled parasite. Like bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas vaginitis can be transmitted through intercourse.
Your doctor would have to test you to diagnose trichomonas vaginitis. She will prescribe antibiotics as a treatment.
What to look and smell for:
Increased amount of vaginal discharge. Possible itching. Itching and redness accompanied by a yellow-green discharge.
You know what the ironic thing about this smelly vagina business is?
It is that if you get bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas vaginitis, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics, but after using the antibiotics, your chances of getting a vaginal yeast infection shoot up. Who designed this health scenario anyway?
Before you curse, Wanda, let me offer you these tips for vaginal health to use at you own discretion:
The vagina needs to breathe, so let it. Wear pantyhose less often. Use knee-highs or thigh-highs instead.
Wear cotton underwear instead of synthetic underwear.
Use condoms during sex. Even though the theory that sex can cause a vaginal infection remains contested, use a condom is a preventative until the infection gone.
Add one teaspoon of boric acid or a half-cup of hydrogen peroxide to two quarts of warm water. (For the boric acid to mix well you need to make sure the water is warm). Use the boric acid or hydrogen peroxide douche for two weeks and stop. The boric acid and hydrogen peroxide should increase the amount of lactic acid within the vagina. This increased amount of lactic acid within the vaginal helps restore the proper bacterial balance within the vaginal and reduces the chances of re-infection.
Eat less sugar so that you don’t feed the yeast.
See a doctor if you still have doubts. The Mayo Clinic Women’s “HealthSource” newsletter has cautioned women against hastily self-diagnosing vaginal problems and labeling every smelly vagina issue as a “yeast infection”. This may not allows be the case.
Ok, I hope you smell better now and if in doubt, check it out.
Easy Steps on How to Freeze Okra
Freezing up okra is not as easy as washing it and putting in the ref. There is a proper way to freeze okras. There are proper steps on freezing okra so it will not rot easily. You could enjoy okras for up to eight months in the common freezer if you do it properly. Frozen okras can also last up to more than ten months if you put them inside a deep freezer. The materials you will need to freeze okras are the following:
1. pods of okras
2. strainer
3. sharp knives
4. pot with a lid
5. ice
6. zip lock bags
Procedure:
1. The first step on how to freeze okra is to choose the fresh okra. You will know that it is fresh if it is still green and tender. Choose the okra without punctures. Make sure it doesn’t have any brown spots as well.
2. The second step on freezing okra is to put it in the strainer while rinsing it with water that should be lukewarm. The next step is separating the smaller pods and the bigger pods. The small pods are smaller than four inches and the bigger pods are those that have a length of more than four inches.
3. The third step on how to freeze okra is cutting its stems at the tip by using the knife. Do this step with the smaller pods only. Make sure that you do not cut the cells of the seeds.
4. The fourth step on how to freeze okra is filling the two thirds part of the pot with water. Make it boil and prepare a bowl full of ice as soon as the water starts to boil.
5. The fifth step on how to freeze okra is putting the smaller pods in the saucepan or pot so it will boil. Let it boil for three minutes only. This is how you blanch the okras. Prepare the bigger pods for boiling. Boil them for three minutes then put them straight in the water with ice and let them cool for more than four minutes. You can put more cubes of ice if it is needed so the water will be colder.
6. The last step in freezing okras is putting the okras in the strainer so the water will drain. Put them in the zip lock bags, making sure that the bag has no air at all. Place them inside the ref’s freezer.
Child Behavior For A Three Year Old

Parenting Question
“I’m spiraling out of control with my three-year-old daughter. She won’t listen
to me and I know that the ‘naughty bench’ isn’t working. I’m at a total loss and
feel like such a failure. I don’t want to hit her or use the kind of strong
verbal yelling that my parents did. What do I do? I want her to understand that
I’m the boss and when I ask her to do something or obey something, she should do
it. My father was giving me parenting advice today and I feel so out of control.
Is this normal child behavior for a three-year-old?”–Out-of-Control Mom
Positive Parenting Tip for Child Behavior for a Three Year Old
Dear Out-of-Control Mom:
Firstly, you are NOT a failure–just a mom who needs some new tools.
My guess is that you haven’t had many courses on how to deal with three-year-old
behavior, so be gentle with yourself.
Many parents ask me what’s “normal” when it comes to child behavior for a
three-year-old. No matter what your child’s age, what it comes down to is this:
how is your child’s behavior working for you, and how is it working for them.
From your question, I sense it just ain’t working–period!
So let’s first look at what is going on for your daughter. Children at the
pre-school stage are developing a whole host of new skills, including: wanting
more independence (for example, “No, I want to do it by myself!”); asserting
their wants (“I want that!”); and learning about friendship (“Give that back!”).
One of the best things you can do when parenting a three-year-old is to support
your child in attaining these new skills without allowing them to become
demanding or spoiled. To ensure you don’t fall into unhealthy habits that
promote power struggles, choose to use a firm–but kind–approach and look for
ways that your child can learn from each situation.
The more you can allow your three-year-old to do things on her own (and they
won’t be perfect), the less likely she will be to fight you on everything. Look
for household tasks that she can do at her age and find ways that she can help
you out. Have her fill the dog bowl, hold the door open for you when you are
bringing groceries into the house, set the table, etc. The busier you can keep
her doing positive behaviors, the less chance she will move towards negative
ones.
Be warned: even if you take this approach, your daughter is still going to test
you. Below are six simple steps for dealing with three-year-olds when they just won’t
listen:
1. Let Go of Timeouts - Timeouts can work for some children (but there
are far better techniques). Ultimately, the only person we can control is
ourselves. If timeouts are not working (that is, your child refuses to go to the
“naughty bench”, stay on the “naughty bench”, or tells you they make their own
rules and have moved the “naughty bench”), look for other ways to inspire them
to want to be well-behaved (as suggested in the following five steps).
2. Fire Yourself as Boss of the Household! - Many parents buy into the
belief that mom should be the boss of the household and be in control. Yet, we
must remember that we are modeling for our children how to act every single
minute of the day. Our kids learn more from what we do than from what we say. If
they see us pulling rank as “boss”, they will attempt to be “boss” too.
Unfortunately, when this happens, they may outrank us and the real power
struggles will begin!
3. Provide Flexibility with Boundaries – Instead of boss, see yourself as
your child’s coach or guide, responsible for providing them with experiences to
learn from and allowing them to experience the consequences of their actions.
Give clear guidelines, but also give them flexibility too. For example, “Your
toys need to be cleaned up before we go to Grandma’s. Do you want to clean them
up now, or in 5 minutes from now?” If they still don’t clean up, then you might
not go to Grandma’s that day. Children need to know what the rules are and, more
importantly, they need to know you will follow-through with the rules. Once you
become consistent with your behavior, your children will learn to trust what you
say and will improve their behavior accordingly.
4. Stay Firm (but Kind) - If they fight, you follow-through. Do this
without yelling, scolding or punishing. Don’t buy into their tears, and
definitely don’t get into a debate. Stay firm, but stay kind. Tell them that
when they want a hug, to come find you. I know keeping your cool is easier said
than done. For more on this, check out the “Mom’s Time-Out” section (page
111-114) of When You’re About To Go Off The Deep End, Don’t Take Your Kids
With You.
5. Use Consequences That Relate to Their Behavior - Punishment teaches
our kids to feel bad, but rarely teaches them how to “do good”. If you are
encountering the same misbehaviors over and over again, your child is clearly
not learning from their mistakes. To facilitate learning, make certain any
consequences used are directly related to the misbehavior. For example, when
your child is rough with the computer, computer time is over; when your child is
splashing water out of the tub, bath time is over; or when your child is goofing
off with their food, dinner is over. Again, do these quickly, but kindly.
6. Thank and Appreciate Your Child for What They Do – Children want to
please and they want to know that their contributions make a difference.
Remember to tell them so–and often.
Learning how to motivate our children to want to be well-behaved takes time and
practice. Yet, taking the time now to learn these tools can save you years of
heartache and frustration. Keep reading, keep practicing, and keep empowering
that three-year-old of yours: then watch their behavior change for the better!
Why Men Cheat – Discover Shocking Facts
So why do men cheat? What makes them take the other route when it comes to relationships? Do all men cheat for the same reason? Well there are several types of men on this planet and no not all cheat for the same reason. Each one has his own story to tell. Read on to discover the major reasons why men cheat.
Past habit- Some men are addicted and cheat only due to the fact they simply can’t control themselves. They might get into a relationship or even married but after the initial phase they get back to the route of cheating and cheat only because of lack of control on their bodies.
Lack of attraction- Sometimes things tend to go dry after the initial phases of the marriage or the relationship and they start looking for better options. Some men tend to loose attraction towards their wife or girlfriend but at the same time do not want to get out of the relationship therefore they tend to cheat.
Sex- This is the most common major reason why most men cheat. According to some men sex tends to get boring after a while and they want something fresh. There in this quest for something exciting and something new they tend to cheat on their wives or girl friends.
Constant nagging- Sometimes due to constant nagging and quarrels at home men tend to cheat. This might be simply due to one’s ego satisfaction or just take revenge on one’s wife or girl friend. This basically deals with the emotional connection a man is not able to make with his wife or girlfriend and that’s why he goes out looking for the same connection with someone else.
Top 10 Questions about Body Piercing
Body piercing has grown so much in popularity in recent years that it has become almost mainstream, with more and more people sporting navel rings and multiple ear rings. Facial piercings, surface piercings and lots of others to choose from can make things confusing. If you don’t know what to expect when you decide to get a piercing, it can be even more intimidating. Here are some of the top questions people have about body piercing. 1. I want to get a body piercing. How much will it cost? The cost of a body piercing varies depending on several factors, including where you’re located, how close to a major city you are, and what kind of piercing you’re having done. Generally the more difficult the piercing, the higher the cost. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for as well, so don’t depend entirely upon cost to choose your piercer. If a piercer is charging significantly under the market cost in your area, he may be cutting corners in areas he shouldn’t, such as sterilization and other safety procedures. On average, the cost of piercings fall somewhere in these ranges:
Ears (lobes, cartilage, etc.)…..anywhere from $25-$50 Navel……………………………..$45-$55 Tongue……………………………$45-$55 Labret…………………………….$50-$60 Eyebrow…………………………..$40-$50 Nipple……………………………..$45-$55 Nostril…………………………….$45-$55 Genital…………………………….$75-$100 2. Does it hurt? In simple terms, yes. Does it hurt much? Most people will tell you, “No, not really.” It’s usually more like a pinching or popping sensation than anything. The sensation of pain is relative–some people feel it more than others. The adrenalin rush of the piercing usually means the pain in minimal. After the initial pain when the needle goes through the piercing, you may feel some dull pain or an aching sensation for a few hours, which can be relieved with an over the counter pain reliever. One piercing that does hurt a bit more than others is the tongue piercing, which will swell and be sensitive for a few days. Ice chips and popsicles will help soothe the pain of this kind of new piercing. 3. How long does it take a body piercing to heal? The healing time for a body piercing varies depending upon what you’ve had pierced. Some parts of the body heal more quickly than others. For instance, if you pierce your earlobes, you can expect them to heal within two months and be ready for jewelry other than the original piercing jewelry. The belly button is in an area that heals slowly, however, because it’s right where the body twists and turns, which slows the healing process. It also doesn’t get as much air circulation because it is covered much of the time. It can take up to six months or even a year for a belly button piercing to heal completely. Some general healing times are:
Ear lobes……….6-8 weeks Cartilage………..4-8 months Eyebrow………..6-8 weeks Nostril…………..3-4 months Septum………….6-8 months Labret…………..2-3 months Tongue………….4-6 weeks Nipple…………..4-6 months Navel……………5 months-1 year Genitals…………6 weeks-6 months The better you care for a body piercing, the more quickly it will heal, so be sure to discuss the proper care of your piercing with the piercing professional who does your body piercing to ensure a quick, clean piercing and you will heal in the least amount of time possible. 4. How can I tell if a piercing is infected, or it’s just normal healing stuff? All body piercings will have some drainage during the first several days. This is because you have basically given your body a puncture wound, and your body will bleed for a while, and then have drainage of some fluids as it heals. These fluids are actually good for you, as they keep the area moist and clean and will wash away some of the dirt and germs that might otherwise stay in the area. Bleeding should stop within a few hours or the first day and be only small amounts. Often it will look watery. Drainage will be mostly a clear, watery discharge, although it can sometimes be somewhat white in color. The drainage will form “crusties” around the jewelry that can be washed off with warm, soapy water when you clean your piercing each day. A piercing is infected when the discharge is either green or yellow. Also, if the area becomes swollen or inflamed again after the initial swelling has subsided. Any time you see green or yellow pus or discharge; you should see a doctor and get appropriate medical treatment. It won’t necessarily mean you have to remove your piercing; you may simply have to take a course of antibiotics. If the area becomes red and inflamed with red streaks radiating out from the area, see a doctor right away. 5. What should I look for in a good body piercing studio? A good body piercing studio must first and foremost be clean, clean, and clean! The most common cause of infection is piercings is simple exposure to germs, so look for a piercing parlor that is very strict about its cleanliness and sterilization procedures. They should have a separate room where nothing else is done but piercings. They should always have an operational autoclave, which is a wet steam sterilization unit that is to be used to clean and sterilize all tools and equipment used during piercing. They should also pierce only with single-use, disposable needles that are pre-wrapped. Ask them if this is what they use, and insist that the needles not be opened until they are actually ready to do your piercing so that you can confirm they are sterile-wrapped. Look for experience and qualifications. Have all the piercers been through an apprenticeship program? If so, for how long did they train and where? Also make sure they are licensed to operate a piercing studio by their state’s department of health. In most states this is now mandatory. Also check the date to make sure it isn’t expired. Finally, look for a certificate of membership in a professional society such as the Association of Professional Piercers, an organization that supports safe and professional piercing practices and offers extensive ongoing training. 6. Why can’t I just pierce myself? You can pierce yourself, but it’s not really a good idea. It’s simply too hard to keep the area in your own home (or wherever you happen to be) clean and sterile enough. You also may have trouble lining up and placing a piercing squarely where you want it, and if you lose your nerve half-way through the piercing, you’re stuck with it half done. If you do it at home, you’ll probably do it on an impulse, which will mean you won’t have the right tools. Piercing needles are incredibly sharp in order to reduce the pain and make a good, clean cut. No matter how sharp that sewing needle is at home, it’s not as sharp as a piercing needle, so it will hurt more, bleed more, and may not heal as cleanly. 7. What should I clean my piercing with? Today most professional piercers agree that the best way to clean a fresh piercing is with a mild antibacterial soap. These should not contain perfumes or dyes, which can irritate a piercing and lead to discomfort or an allergic reaction. There are a few on the market that are specifically designed for body piercings, including Provon® and Satin®. After cleaning, you should follow up with a sea salt water soak. Sea salt is available at natural health stores, piercing and tattoo studios and a variety of other stores. The sea salt solution helps soothe the area and draw impurities out of the wound to promote faster healing. H2Ocean is an excellent pre-mixed sea salt solution that can be sprayed on for ease of use. It’s highly recommended by many professional piercers and is convenient especially if you’re traveling or on the go. 8. What kind of jewelry should a piercing be done with? A body piercing is, in the simplest terms, a puncture wound, so you want to use a high quality metal that won’t react with your body chemistry to create an allergic reaction or contaminate the open wound. Never use cheap or base metals to get a body piercing. The best metals to use are titanium or surgical steel, both or which are essentially inert and won’t react with your body. In some cases, you can use high quality gold, but even this sometimes creates a reaction because of the nickel content, so do be cautious. Once a piercing is completely healed, you have more leeway on what you can use, but if you are at all nickel sensitive, you will probably always have to stick with surgical steel and titanium for your body piercings, unless you are using alternatives such as glass, which is completely non-reactive and safe for nearly everyone. 9. What causes migration? Is it the same as rejection? Rejection is a more severe form of migration. Migration is when a body piercing begins to move through the flesh because the body is trying to force it out of the skin and get rid of it. In some cases, the body only partially succeeds, and the piercing “migrates” so that it ends up being crooked or misaligned. When the body completely forces a piercing out of the body, it is called a “rejection,” because the body has completely rejected the piece of jewelry, basically “spitting it out.” This is because any piercing jewelry is a foreign object that the body sees as an invader to be gotten rid of, especially if the piercing is poorly done so that the jewelry aggravates the skin tissues. 10. What if I want to become a professional piercer? Behave responsibly. Visit a few piercing parlors that you know are top quality and ask about internship programs and other options. Order some videos that take you through the introductory steps of piercing and educate you on the process of proper preparation and sterilization. Many of the larger piercing websites offer these video series’ at a reasonable cost. You should also take courses in first aid in blood borne pathogens and other illnesses that are commonly transmitted by needles. Many of these courses are offered through community colleges or local hospital extensions. The most important thing is to be fully trained and completely experienced in all manner of piercing before setting yourself up as a piercer on your own–both for your own legal protection and the safety and well-being of those who come to you for body piercing. The Association of Professional Piercers (www.safepiercing.org) is an excellent source of information on how to get started as a professional piercer. In Conclusion Body piercing and wearing body jewelry should be an informed choice, not a snap decision. If you have been thinking about getting a body piercing, talk to others who have done the same and get their feedback. Ask them if they are happy with the results and for their suggestions on good piercing studios. Ask yourself if you’re ready for the commitment to proper care and the expense of a body piercing. Remember that a body piercing is a form of body modification that will affect how others perceive you. Obviously, this is part of the appeal for most people. However, the reactions will be mixed, and you should keep in mind that while some people will love it, others will not. So think through the consequences of body piercing thoroughly before you proceed. Then, if you decide its right for you–follow the tips above for a safe, attractive body piercing you’ll be proud to wear! Deworming Your Puppy
Deworming your puppy is a critical part of his puppy care. 98% of all puppies are born with worms that they contracted before they were born from their mother.
There are many different species of worms which can affect your puppy’s growth and development. These worms are intestinal parasites, and contrary to popular belief, you probably won’t see them in the puppy’s stool unless they have a severe infestation.
The most common type of worm found in puppies are roundworms. Roundworms, as you might expect, are round, and a common description is spaghetti-like. These ascarids are very common in nature and can survive outside a host in a cyst stage for a long time. Grassy areas are common places to find any number of parasitic cysts.
Tapeworms are among the most difficult to get rid of. They are a flat, segmented worm.
The head of the tapeworm burrows into the intestine wall and segments break off and are expelled with the feces. You may see wriggling rice-like segments in the stool or dry sawdust-like flakes stuck in the coat around the puppy’s anus. Each segment contains thousands of eggs and ingestion will cause a recurrent infestation.
Fleas are the vector for the tapeworm. They carry the tapeworm from one host to the next. When an animal bites a flea, the tapeworm finds it’s way to the digestive tract where it sets up camp. Tapeworms can be very difficult to get rid of. Dislodging the head can require multiple de-worming attempts. If you do not kill the worm at the source, it can and will regenerate from the head.
There are actually very few medications that work against tapeworms. Many of which can be very hard on the puppy. Whichever medication you choose, you should be sure to consult your veterinarian before you use it. Drontal is the best general de-wormer on the market today. It is a wide spectrum de-wormer and does get tapes, most do not. If your puppy definitely has tapes, it is a good idea to follow up with a species specific dewormer. That is, one that just gets tapes.
When de-worming your puppy, you need to repeat it at least twice, three times is better still. The procedure needs to be done at two week intervals. To follow the life-cycle of the parasite. Most eggs will hatch in that two weeks. The first medication kills anything that is its adult stage, the follow up treatments kill anything that has hatched in the mean time. You can see why it may be advisable to repeat it a third time, just in case any residual eggs had yet to hatch or, any remaining adults laid new eggs.
It is a good idea to follow the final worming with a microscopic fecal exam done at your vet’s office a couple weeks after the final de-worming. Just to make sure no eggs are present. Your vet will need a very fresh fecal sample. Usually no more than an hour old.
Intestinal parasites can cause many problems for the puppy. They can become malnourished, despite how much they eat. If they are always sharing their nutrition with their unwelcome companions they won’t grow well. They will be more susceptible to disease despite vaccines. They may have chronic diarrhea and vomiting and never reach their standard body weight or muscle mass.
Some species of intestinal parasites are transmissible to humans. Mainly children who have a less developed immune system and are more likely to be in the vicinity of the worms or eggs. Round worms especially can infect young children. Children inadvertently put their hands in their mouth or roll around in the grass with the puppy. It is possible, though less likely to contract other species of worms as well.
How to Lose 5 Pounds in a Week
The restriction in the amount of calories you intake and the best selection of foods that will contribute to the increase of the body metabolism rate are some of the positive steps that can be taken to curb weight gain. Along with this, when you put in efforts to do some physical exercises, you can climb the ladder of losing 5 pounds in a short duration of time. This article gives you a fair idea on how to lose excess weight by natural methods.
Weight Scale
Do not be bothered about the physical mass all the time. It is the balance of your height and the corresponding weight that is going to give you the shape of your body. If you are maintaining the weight and height concurrence, then there is no reason for you to feel sad. No one is going to recognize your excess weight if you have that balance between the height and the weight. It is always good to drop a few calories from the body and gain good shape, at the same time, do not feel inferior and lose your confidence.
Weight Loss objectives
Aiming at a luxurious rate of weight loss is risky and unsafe too especially when your physique does not hold up for you with the weight loss efforts that you take. It is much safer and reliable to lose less than two pounds every week. When your objectives are lenient like this, there is a high probability that you will accomplish your goal.
Calories to Exhaust
In general, to maintain the same weight, a person needs 12 calories for each pound of his weight every day. A person weighing 100 pounds will need 1200 calories to maintain the same weight. To lose one pound of body weight, the person weighing 100 pounds need to exhaust 2300 calories extra or he must consume these many calories less in his diet. When cutting down huge amount of calories is not an option in any fitness book, it is better to find ways to exhaust them.
Minimum Calories
If you are going to try starvation ideas that would be the thing you would do to lose weight. Stored components in the body will be broken, survival signals would be ignited and you would be forced to consume more foods to make yourself survive that period of time. Body metabolism would have gone down and body will conserve all the foods you intake by storing them. By starving you almost always gain weight rather than losing it. You need at least 1200 calories per day for all your daily activities.
Water and Fiber
There is no better food to lose weight when it has the ingredients of water and fiber. Vegetables are good sources of fiber and water content and in addition to it, they also comprise of vitamins and minerals. For example, one pound package of a vegetable salad would comprise of just hundred calories. Keeping your body filled with salads daily will help you lose 5 pounds more quickly.
Label Reading Tips
The quantity of the ingredients must also be checked while you go through the contents table. It is not only the name of contents. The names of the ingredients that end with “ose” are all sugar contents say, for example fructose, glucose and sucrose. These are high calorie substances that will slow down the body metabolism and promote stray storage of calories in the body. Amongst these, fructose which by itself gets metabolized very slowly is better than other sugar components.
Hydrogenated Oils
Foods that contain partially hydrogenated oils should be avoided in your diet. It is literally useless to the body. These hydrogenated oil substances contain Trans fats which are even worse than the saturated fatty acids. The manufacturers are permitted to label their product as zero grams of Trans fats if their product contains less than half a gram of trans fat per each serving. This is allowed by health norms and regulatory rules. So do not be fooled by reading the bold letters on the labels but check on few finer aspects that are present in the label. These finer details will help you find out if the food is safe to consume without out risk of fat contents that may harm the body metabolism.
Essential Fats
There are certain fats that are very essential for our body. Mono unsaturated fats are indispensable for some of the internal metabolisms in the body. This is present in olive oil. Foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids are much welcome for the body. Supplement your diet with nuts and seeds to get a supply of good fat contents.
Chart out Exercising Plans
Come up with good exercising plans in accordance with your day to day activities. Most people face troubles in succeeding because of lack of planning. With correct plans in place, you must never feel that you are not having the time to exercise. If you have to go to work early in the morning, you can spend time at the gym in the morning before you leave to office and in the evening time, you can go for a walk in the open atmosphere. Write down a plan neatly and show it to your family members and close friends. They will push you in case you fail to implement your plans. Take the company of a good friend to do your exercise or at the least, you can even take your dog which will wake you up daily if you practice taking it out on a fixed time of the day.
Ample Fluids
Only a hydrated body will give you good shape to the body. It is all fluids inside the body that gives the cells their shape. There is virtually nothing inside the body without moisture i.e. the fluid contents. Consuming fluids in fair amounts every day is as important as breathing. Fluids like water and other nutritional drinks have a positive effect on the body. The canned juices and alcohols will never come under this category. Glucose water, water added with lemon slices can be had frequently in the day which will prove helpful in flushing out toxins from the body. Fresh fruit juices with less amount of sugar are also a good option to include in the diet. All these fluid consumptions will make you lose 5 pounds in an impressive manner.
Fruit Diet
Consumption of fruits alone for few days is a positive step to lose 5 pounds. It would be a bit hard to practice initially but your body will be accustomed to it with more amounts of toxins getting flushed out from the body. Eating fruits alone is not at all a bad idea, as no diet that is of today are devoid of ill contents that subdue the weight loss process. All the modern day foods comprise of saturated components, processed components, added preservatives and other chemicals that are bad for health and they pose a big challenge for the digestion mechanism. With good supply of vitamins and minerals from the fruits, stamina will develop and many regulatory processes in the body can go on a high.
Grocery List
Buy as much varieties of fruits as you can. Varied type of fruits will give you all round supply of nutrients to the body. Purchase fruits and vegetables such that you need not go back on a shopping spree again within two weeks. You can have those in your freezer boxes. Some nuts can also be bought along with these fruits to consume on odd times. Some of the best fruits that are useful for weight loss are bananas, peaches, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, plums, pineapple, cherries, apples, oranges and blueberries. Some of the best nut choices are cashews, pecans and walnuts.

In the same way, do not shy away from implementing your plans if you do not taste success initially. Believe in your plans and persist with your plans to see success.
